George W. Wynn grew up on a farm and ranch in the panhandle of Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering in 1964, Wright State University in Dayton Ohio with a master of business administration In 1969, and a Ph.D. degree in marketing from Texas A&M University in 1982.
George spent 7 years in retail and industrial sales with Exxon USA, and served as vice-president and general manager of a wholesale/retail petroleum distributorship and truck stop operation for 8 years. He served on the faculty at Texas A&M University and at the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) before coming to James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA) in 1986 where he is an associate professor and served as chairman of the Department of Marketing from 1986 to 1989. In 1991, he was recognized as one of the 25 outstanding industrial engineering graduates for the first 50 years of the Industrial Engineering Program at Texas Tech University.
Over the years, George has purchased and refurbished numerous houses for sale as well as remodeling several houses for his personal use. George and his wife, Jeri, live near Broadway (Rockingham Co) VA where he raises registered Angus cattle as well as operating Wood Creations a woodworking/furniture business.
